Disembraining Machine is a monthly series of shows at ‘The Tidy’, Alchemix Studios down in Woolloongabba across from the Gabba. It was started last year by the host Marly Luske & OtherFilm‘s Joel Stern and with only skipping two months – Dec. 09, Jan. 10 – it’s now up to it’s twelfth installment as of the last Sunday of this month.

Disembraining showcases underground acts from the various scenes in Brisbane and interstate & international with open arms directed toward the experimental, improvised, popular and the unpopular. It’s always free, usually there’s a donation bar, and is on at the last Sunday of the month with a early start time (which is appreciated given that Brisbane’s public transport network effectively shuts down at 10:30PM on Sundays).

Some of the acts who’ve performed at this series include: Brisbane’s improv/psych collective [the] Impromptulons, Green Pigeon’s 6Majik9 (MYMWLY/Pacific Soma), the immaculate Deadnotes, Yout Dem, Matt Kennedy, LC favorites [the] Craft Bandits, Neckhold, WTEM, Swiss composer Gilles Aubry, Julian Cope-endorsed The Scrapes, Denmark’s Lars Graugaard, Melbourne’s Absoluten Calfeutrail & Dead Boomers, drumming god Shoji Hano, KF‘s Julia Norris side-project The Harpy Choir, the inimitable & unhinged Lost Domain — see the webpage for a list of who has performed.
